FAQs
1) There are three images on the individual product page; please can you explain what the differences are?
The first image on each individual product page when viewing on a mobile device, or the top image when viewing on a computer, best represents your item selected.
The second image is a higher resolution image (still much lower than the final image that your print will be made from) and is the best one to view the image on screen.
The third image is to give an idea of what a framed picture could look like on a wall but is does not represent your chosen product.
All image sizes given on the website are the size of the print without border or frame.
2) Do the prints come with the copyright impression on them like in the image previews? No, they don't - the copyright impression is to deter breach of copyright on the images from the internet. All the high resolution images (always much higher resolution than those on my website as they're too large to store) are stored on the Whitewall website without the copyright impression and these are the files that are used for printing.
3) Can I request different sized images, products and types of frames/paper? Yes, most of the products that Whitewall have available (www.whitewall.com/uk) can be provided at request. Generally I like the largest print that the image quality will allow for the biggest impact. Both prints and the acrylic Art box are usually available in much larger sizes on request.
4) Why have you chosen Hahenmühle Rag paper for the Fine Art framed print? This paper has a very matte surface with a fine understated texture. It is a thick Fine Art paper at 308g/m2.
5) What measurements do the print sizes refer to? The sizes given in the description are those of the image only, without border, Passe-partout, or frame. Please double check the dimensions if you are buying for a specific space or frame. For example, when estimating the size of the framed product at 50cmx50cm, the final dimensions will be approximately 62cmx62cm (50cm product, 1cm border, 3cm Passe-partout, 2cm frame, both sides).
6) If I want to frame my own prints, what do you recommend? When mounting and framing large prints, I'd recommend a dry mount as it prevents rippling of the paper especially in rooms with high temperature fluctuation. I'd also recommend using anti-reflective glass. If you choose to buy the Hanhenmühle print unframed, I suggest not touching the printed image and framing it as soon as possible as the ink can degrade if not protected.
7) How long do prints take to deliver? Typically, I'd expect prints to take 16 days from the point of order but during periods of high demand such as Christmas, I'd ask for your patience for a few more days as labs tend to get busy during these periods. If there is a significant delay to the delivery, I will endeavour to notify you.
8) Why is postage on some smaller prints so high? All the prints are processed at Whitewall's lab in Germany and couriered by Fed Ex so the basic postage costs are relatively high. However, Whitewall's reputation as the world's best lab (TIPA) means that you can expect to receive the best print quality possible.
